Terms of Travel

All costs are based upon lowest current rates unless stated. Airfare and student tuition rates are subject to change. A group rate for airfare is offered through UTEP’s travel agency. Students are not required to travel with the group, but certain scholarship funds will not be available if student purchases airfare outside of UTEP’s travel agency.

Room rates are per person for a total of 14 nights (unless otherwise specified). Room rates have been negotiated for the entire group, and all students must stay in group accommodations.

Student attendance is required at all daily class meetings on campus and in Italy. Outside of scheduled class activities, students are free to explore Rome and experience life there.

All travel expenses are listed below and payment plans are available to pay travel expenses ahead of time. Tuition is not part of the travel expenses and must be made to the university. Financial Aid can be used to pay course fees if applicable, (please speak to a Financial Aid representative to find out if you are eligible).

Payment Plan

To enroll in the Layers of Rome course a $500 deposit is required to hold a place in the class. Places will be reserved on a first come first served basis and assigned by the Humanities Program staff. The course is limited to 12 spaces. Students can make payments through a special website link established by the Study Abroad Office. Starting in the fall, students will be able to pay their total cost in 5 payments ($500 deposit and four payments of $350 each). All payments must be made and the total cost paid by the end of the spring semester.

Scholarship Opportunities

The Humanities Program, Study Abroad office and the Liberal Arts Dean’s office provides scholarship funds of up to $1,000.00 as a reimbursement to help with some of the cost of the program. Call or email the Humanities program for more details on the $1,000.00 scholarship.

In addition the Study Abroad provides other scholarship opportunities. To learn more about study abroad scholarship opportunities click HERE.

Financial Aid
